About Dr. Nancy Hoi Wong

Dr. Nancy Wong received her clinical doctorate in occupational therapy from Pacific University in Oregon. As a clinical specialist in pelvic floor therapy, Nancy (she/her/hers) believes in empowering her clients with skills and knowledge they need to reclaim function and health in their pelvises and bodies. Through her career she’s been happy to help people of all sex and gender reach their goals in having pain free sex, full control of their toileting, and to engage in the activities they care about without pain.

She is passionate about providing compassionate and thoughtful care. Her clinical speciality includes treating pelvic floor issues including chronic pelvic pain, vaginismus, vulvodynia, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and bowel incontinence, tailbone pain (coccydynia), endometriosis, prostatitis, and rehabilitation pre and post gender-confirmation surgeries.

With a background in yoga therapy, mindfulness meditation, and bodywork, clients can expect individualized treatment using modalities including functional movement training, neuromuscular reeducation, therapeutic exercise, and manual therapy including trigger point release, visceral manipulation, soft tissue manipulation, connective tissue manipulation, scar tissue massage, and myofascial release.

Nancy is also trilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, and English. She’s recently been learning American Sign Language (ASL). When she’s not working you’ll likely find her hanging out with friends and family, at a dance class, roller skating, gardening, or petting her dogs.

Approach

I believe in our bodies’ innate abilities to heal, recover, and transcend issues including chronic pain and pelvic pain. My job as a health practitioner is to help you connect with that source within you and to create a container for that process to happen.

Issues in the pelvic region are often complicated- it is a place where some great pleasures and joys are born, it can also be a source of pain, shame, confusion, and trauma. Many of us have mixed feelings regarding some of our fundamental functions- urination, sexuality, defecation.

My approach to pelvic floor therapy is to help my patients regain a sense of agency, embodiment, control, and knowledge over this part of the body to help rehabilitate dysfunction and reclaim a sense of ease and confidence that often gets stripped with issues like painful sex or incontinence.

My clinical approach utilizes compassionate communication, active listening, respectful touch, and client collaboration throughout the treatment process.

With a background in yoga therapy, mindfulness meditation, and bodywork, clients can expect individualized treatment using modalities including functional movement training, neuromuscular reeducation, therapeutic exercise, and manual therapy including trigger point release, visceral manipulation, craniosacral therapy, soft tissue manipulation, connective tissue manipulation, scar tissue massage, and myofacial release. Additionally I have training in Northern Thai Massage, Chinese Abdominal Massage (Chi Nei Tsang).

I work everyday to create safer spaces in my practice, practicing from a place that is trauma informed, anti-racist, and within a queer framework. Sessions are completely individualized and tailored to meet you and your body where you are.
